is why I've been absent for the last four months. Baby boy is due May 24th. Tomorrow I'll be 20 weeks. Half way there! I haven't been quite as sick this pregnancy, but it has still been miserable and it seems just as bad because this time I have a toddler to take care of. And I think last time I was better by 16 weeks and I'm still not feeling great now at 20 weeks. Doug's parents have a nice apartment in their basement that we have been living in and that has been my life saver. Doug works 50 hours a week and has weird hours so during the weeks I was really feeling awful his mom would take Warren upstairs for a couple hours a day to play and would feed us dinner EVERY NIGHT. I don't know what I would have done without her help. A couple times my mom came and picked up Warren and me and we stayed at their house for a week at a time. That was the best because not only would she take care of Warren the whole time, but she was there to take care of me too. We decided that if (IF) we have another kid we will have to hire a babysitter to come in and take care of the kids and help with housework. Doug has been the big hero in all of this, working 50 hours a week, doing all of the cleaning up, dishes, grocery shopping, laundry, AND he got up with Warren EVERY morning even if he didn't get home from work until 1:00 am the night before. Actually he still does the grocery shopping and gets up with Warren most mornings. Because he's awesome. This pregnancy is going by quicker, I'm showing much earlier (like as soon as I got pregnant!), started feeling him move earlier (16 weeks), and started feeling braxton hicks earlier (17 weeks). Hopefully the next 20 weeks go by just as fast!
Warren started his terrible two's at 18 months. He has an extremely advanced vocabulary for his age and for being a boy. For example, at his one-year well check the doctor asked if he could say at least 3-5 words. He had over 75 words. We stopped counting after that but I'd guess he has 150-200 now. He gets really frustrated when he can't communicate what's he's thinking and has some serious tantrums. We haven't taken him out in public for the last few weeks because we're afraid he will have one of his meltdowns while we're out. He has a lot of energy, a short attention span, and requires constant attention and a lot of creativity to keep him busy and satisfied. He's a handful. He loves music, cars/tractors/trains, animals, building things with blocks, and anything outside. He loves listening to music with headphones. His favorite movie is Aristocats. He tries to sing along to the songs. He loves "Everybody Wants to Be A Cat". He adds a syllable to some of his words and it's really cute. He says "bye-ee", "gone-uh", "fork-uh" etc. My favorite word he says is "oin-gee" (orange). Which is also his favorite food. He thinks he knows how to counts things. Usually he just says "one" over and over again but sometimes he can count to five. My favorite thing he does lately is when we're putting him to bed and singing to him he'll quietly sing along. He picks out a word he recognizes and sings that word over and over again until he hears another one he recognizes. It's so endearing and it's hard not to laugh. I guess he does that other times other than bedtime but bedtime is the cutest. He's also very affectionate. He loves to snuggle during a movie or a book and will often come up to me several times a day and ask for a hug or a "kick" (kiss).
We haven't been taking many pictures lately because our life has been so crazy but here are a few random ones. Thank goodness for iphone cameras.

I did not know this!! Congratulations!!! I hope you are 100% soon! It's so hard with other kids to be sick!! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteAlyssa, I knew this but this is so exciting. I did not know it's another boy. That's so cute, especially since I distinctly remember talking to you a few years ago about how you really needed only girls because boys would be way too hard. I think you were watching my unruly toddlers :) Warren sounds just like my Warren, and the funny thing is, he is my calmest child now. He was absolutely out of control crazy and had terrible meltdowns and we never took him to restaurants until he was about three or older. It was unbelievably hard when I was pregnant with Shad and Kyler, but it's been worth it all. Warren is my sweet little helper and feels sorry for me and likes to do things for his siblings and me. I wish I could meet your little Warren! He's so so darling! I LOVE wild boys and people who understand what it's like to have them. The joys and the sorrows :)
